The BSB60420 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management is an exciting qualification that explores in depth the key competencies that leaders and managers need to apply at the workplace to achieve high level performance and productivity.

The Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience in leadership and management, across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters. They use cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources and transfer their knowledge to others, and creative or conceptual skills to express ideas and perspectives or respond to complex problems.

The Advanced Diploma qualification is a logical progression from the Diploma of Leadership and Management and is a highly recommended qualification for all managers or people who want to get into senior executive positions across a range of organizations. It is also recommended for professionals with significant industry experience looking to gain an additional qualification.

The qualification is nationally recognized under the Australian Qualifications Framework. The course is delivered online. All the course materials are available for download via our online site

Note: This online option is not available to international students on student visas in Australia. Student visa holders can apply for our on-campus courses

Qualification & Recognition:

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded the nationally recognised qualification, an Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management BSB60420.

We use a core textbook that covers a number of units, together with additional study materials, as applicable. A library copy of the textbook (on loan for the duration of the study period) is mailed to the students at no extra cost within Australia.

The College reserves the right to change the Electives in the program at its discretion at any stage.

If students wish to study a particular Elective subject, we may be able to modify the program for the student, subject to availability of adequate resources for the requested Elective. Please contact us by email, if you wish to discuss the Electives for your course.

Course Duration

Self Paced. We recommend that you complete a minimum of 1 unit within 4-6 weeks.

In general, the course can be completed within 12 months depending on a number of variables such as prior experience and knowledge and hours of study.

The course must be completed within 18 months from the date of commencement.

Entry requirements
  • Completed Year 12 or its equivalent (or 2-3 years work experience in supervisory roles)
  • Mature age (18 years and over)
  • IELTS 5.5 or equivalent for students from non-English speaking backgrounds

This course is designed to support you in gaining employment across a diverse range of industries as senior managers, supervisors and team leaders in small businesses, or in medium to large scale companies.

Learning Pathways

On successful completion of this course, graduates may consider further study at a higher tertiary level within the vocational education and training sector.

Pathway options can be discussed with students upon completion of studies.

Articulation

Individual students who are seeking to continue their study at university should contact the prospective university upon completion of the course for any credit transfer arrangements.

Resources

Teaching-learning resources may include: study guides, textbooks, CD’s and DVD’s, handouts, electronic notes, web resources and reading material.

Students will learn management skills and techniques via project work, practical exercises, individual studies, research, discussion or presentations using industry-standard applications and materials/tools. A textbook will be provided to the students

Assessment methods and tools may include:

  • Oral tasks (interview questions)
  • Written tasks (workbook, assignments)
  • Discussions (case studies, role plays), project (workplace research project)
  • Simulated or workplace performance (practical demonstration with observation checklists)
  • Third party referrals

Assessment results recognise student achievement against each competency.

Recognition of Prior

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) provides students an opportunity to have their current skills and competencies recognised. These skills and competencies may relate to units you are about to commence and as a result can exempt you from studying these units. However, there is a cost related to obtaining Recognition of Prior Learning. The process requires students to gather evidence confirming their competency. A content specialist will advise you in this task. Enquire if you think you qualify. If the education provider grants an overseas student RPL, it may impact on student visa conditions through a shortening of the student’s course.
